Could breathing cure your constipation?

Could breathing cure your constipation?

I came across a fabulous little book called “Roads to Rejuvenation” by Dr Elsie M Port. She was a Chiropractor, Naturopath, Nutritionist, Physiotherapist, Biochemist, Physio Analyst and Metaphysician. She was from Adelaide and published this book when she was 73 and that was in 1946.

One of the many interesting things mentioned in this book is the ‘power of breath’. She has a number of simple breathing techniques to cure common conditions and revitalize the body.

I recently tried one on my 4 year old son and it worked! So here it is the simple and drug free cure to constipation by Dr Elsie Port:

  • Drink 4-5 (I gave my son 2) glasses of warm water with a little lemon juice.
  • Then take in a deep breath filling the lower parts of the lungs
  • As you breath in, push the abdomen out
  • As you breath out pull the abdomen in

That’s it! The breathing action massages the organs and intestines, waking them up. The water re-hydrates the body and the lemon gets the metabolism firing. No laxatives required. I got my son to do approx 10-15 breaths in 2 sets. Half an hour later it was action stations.

And the best part is it’s pretty much free and actually worked.

Give it a try.

And stay tuned I’ll let you know how the other breathing exercises go.
